Claims-Made Policy
Salon insurance glossary
Definition: A claims-made policy covers claims first made while the policy is active, for incidents after the retroactive date.
Why it matters for salons and spas
Common in med spa and advanced aesthetics coverage. Switching carriers without prior-acts coverage or a tail can leave past work uninsured.
Example
A laser burn from March is claimed in September — covered only if a claims-made policy is in force in September with the right retro date.
