General Liability

Salon insurance glossary

Definition: General liability covers bodily injury and property damage to others that happen around your business, plus advertising and personal injury claims and the legal defense that goes with them.

Why it matters for salons and spas

It is the coverage leases require. It does not cover injuries caused by the service itself — that is professional liability.

Example

A client trips over a dryer cord and breaks a wrist; general liability responds.
